When I first entered college, I brought with me not only a curiosity for feminism as a concept but feminism manifested as a community. Like many guys (I assume), I had doubts about whether the presence of people like me would be welcomed. I'm glad this organization was there to dispel that hesitation. From its advocacy projects like Pads4Progress to fine arts initiatives like Kife, I learned I, like any other community member, can, and should, play a part and help my own way.

Looking back at my first year, I think finding SWAN so early was one of the best things that happened to me. It gave me friends who inspire me, opportunities to create things I care about, and a space where femininity is embraced instead of boxed into one definition. Here, I found a flock that celebrates every version of womanhood and gave me the confidence to embrace my own. I’ll always be thankful that I get to call SWAN my home.
